When I decided to teach about emotional eating, I wrestled with the pressure to have all the answers. Even though I had lost 130 lbs, I still had more questions than answers.
If anything, the experience showed me that this Journey is deeply personal. There is no one size-fits-all solution.
That’s why I focus on helping others discover their own inner wisdom.
True health comes from listening to our bodies and caring for them, not to meet a standard, but to support the lives we want to live. By sharing my experiences, I hope it inspires something for you about the life that YOU want to live.
It’s week 6 of my treatments with the Life Vessel and the Zerona Laser, I’m halfway through, and I’m noticing several shifts; some encouraging and some challenging.
At today’s Life Vessel session, I shared with Helen that my heartburn and hot flashes are creeping back. She suggested switching to a mode focused on stimulating digestion, rather than the relaxation-focused sessions I’ve been doing.
This reminded me that our bodies are constantly changing. Symptoms are often signals of what our bodies need.
It’s easy to want discomfort to simply disappear; to take a pill and move on. While I might still take something to ease my symptoms, real health comes from pausing to understand what my body is trying to tell me.
Today, Helen helped me tune into the signals and see that my body’s needs have shifted.
Then, it was time for my Zerona treatment.
The Zerona is marketed for weight loss. It’s recommended to do six treatments and measure inches lost. Once again, a one-size-fits-all solution.
The reality is that results vary significantly. Helen shared stories of people achieving quick results in six weeks, while others needed a year of weekly sessions.
The lesson I take from this conversation? Our bodies are unique and respond in their own time.
My Clothes may fit the same but I still feel lighter
For me, after 18 Zerona treatments (12 of which I completed before adding in the Life Vessel), I haven’t experienced significant weight loss. My clothes still fit the same, but I do feel lighter and less bloated.
This journey has taught me that there are no magic cures. Although Helen is an expert, the choices I make outside her office ultimately shape my health. It’s up to me to decide what my body needs, whether it’s nourishing food, exercise, or rest.
How my Body Feels is More Important that how it looks
This shift in perspective has been profound. I’m learning to focus less on how my body looks and more on how it feels. Michelle E. Minero speaks to this in her book, Self-Love Diet: The Only Diet That Works. She writes about seeing our bodies as instruments, not ornaments.
Like any delicate instrument, our bodies need thoughtful care to function at their best.
Releasing 80% of Food Cravings
The Life Vessel has helped me deepen this relationship with my body. By moving my body out of fight-or-flight mode, I’ve reduced my cravings by 80%.
In the past, managing food cravings required significant effort. Now, they simply don’t arise as often, freeing me to focus on nourishing my body rather than battling urges.
The Most Unexpected Benefit I found
Perhaps the most unexpected benefit has been the peace I’ve found with my body.
At the beginning of this journey, I struggled with self-critical thoughts about wanting to be thinner. Those thoughts don’t dominate my mind like they used to. When they do surface, I recognize them as fear-based reactions from my ego, and I no longer feel the need to act on them.
I feel gratitude for the calm and clarity I’ve cultivated.
